... for all your support and help with this year's Super Shorts International Film Festival. This year was the best the festival so far and that was all down to the support we received from people like you.
Below is a summary of the Super Shorts International Festival 2008.
Short Film Competition
We received over 700 entries from 27 different countries ranging from expensive 35mm films to homemade and captivating gems. The 24 shortlisted films reflected the diversity of the entries and shows a good cross-section of the types of short films being made today.
The jury included Larushka Ivan Zadeh (Metro film critic), Barrington Robinson (successful short film producer) and Nonso Anozie (actor 'Atonement', 'Happy-Go-Lucky', 'Cass').
All winners received a trophy and some awards included other prizes such as £1,000 cash, £1,500 worth of editing software and a full HD shooting kit for a week. The winners are as follows...
Portobello Post Best Film Award - 'True Colours' by Barney Elliot
Anthony Mingella Best Director Award - Runar Runarrson for 'Smafuglar / Two Birds'
VMI Best Cinematography Award - Lol Crawley for 'Alex And Her Arse Truck'
Soho Post Best Comedy Award - 'Speechless' by James Cooper
Lightning Media Best Documentary Award - 'Eric's Secrets' by Lucia Ashmore
Satusfaction Best Drama Award - 'Smafuglar / Two Birds' by Runar Runarrson
Avid Best Editing Award - Martin Gauvreau for 'Agnieszka 2039'
Short Script Competition
This was new for 2008 and attracted over 500 short scripts from all over the world. Twelve scripts were short listed and the Jury selected 'A Tale of Two Serial Killers' by Xaria Byron as the most worthy of the trophy and £500 cash prize. The jury included Matthew Dench (agent at Dench Arnold) and Lucy Scher (The Script Factory).
Dailymotion Music Video Competition
Over 11,000 people watched the shortlisted videos and the winner was 'Dark On Fire' by Shelly Love.
